KFMW/Rock 108 Teams Up with Iowa Giving Crew for Second Year

In 2019, KFMW/Rock 108 looked for a charity benefiting the local community where the passion and spirit of the Rock 108 Nation could help grow the charity and help more people in need. So they partnered with Iowa Giving Crew to support their annual Operation: Give Birds to provide Thanksgiving dinner to families struggling in the corridor, which includes the counties of Linn, Benton, Cedar, Jones, Johnson, and Washington between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids.

In 2020, KFMW/Rock 108 again partnered with Iowa Giving Crew to support their efforts to provide more meals to those in need. KFMW/Rock 108 offered a limited edition Rock 108 t-shirt with proceeds going to Operation Give Birds. For every three shirts sold, a complete Thanksgiving meal was secured for a family. With over $10,000 in sales and the generosity of “Super Donor” contributions, donations were 5 times larger than in 2019.

“Between COVID-19 and the Derecho storm flattening Cedar Rapids, there was a greater need this year. Iowa Giving Crew will feed 800 families – up from 545 last year,” said Russ Mottla, KFMW Program Director. “Rock Nation listeners are the best! Without hesitation, they answered the call. We are Iowa Strong. We look forward to next year being bigger and better,” continued Mottla.
