Omaha’s KOZN Changes Weekday Program Lineup

Mike’l Severe returns to 1620 The Zone after a five-year absence; joining 1620 The Zone’s long-time morning co-host Damon Benning on “Severe and Benning in the Morning” from 6:00 am to 10:00 am weekdays. Benning and Severe will offer listeners a new blend of morning sports radio according to Manager Mark Shecterle. “We are excited to bring back Mike’l Severe to the NRG family,” Shecterle added.

Former morning show co-host and “Broadcaster of the Year” Gary Sharp will get his own show, “The Gary Sharp Show” and move to the mid-day slot from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm weekdays, recently vacated by Nick Bahe. This will give Sharp the platform to fully exhibit his expertise in sports analysis and his legendary interviewing skills, Shecterle said. Adding, “Gary has deserved his own show for a while and we are thrilled that he will be anchoring our mid-day slot. By moving to mid-days, we truly believe we have a sports-talk line-up second to none”.

1620 The Zone’s award-winning afternoon show “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” will continue with John Bishop and Josh Peterson, weekdays from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. In addition, KOZN’s Nebraska football post game show, “Big Red Over Reaction”, which airs immediately after the conclusion of each Nebraska game, giving fans a chance to react, will now simulcast on sister station KOOO 101.9 The Keg.

1620 The Zone is beginning its 20th year as Omaha’s Sports Radio leader, and Shecterle said the changes will put everything in place for continued success in ratings and revenue.
